The painter, born in Venice, attended Domenico Ambrogi’s workshop in Bologna where he learned the art of quadraturism and perspective. This is what we see in this painting representing the Virgin, in the center, in a royal position surrounded by angels. Behind her, Saint Anne, her mother, givimng a certain verticality to the painting, a rhythm emphasized by columns with Corinthian capitals in the background.
This painting was probably painted in 1675-1676, when his personal language was inspired by Veronese’s paintings.
