An Attic black-figured kylix
Athen, ca. 540-530 BC.; Dimensioni: alt. cm 14,8; diam. cm 20; Attic black figures kylix, Little Masters Group. Shape-typ B, concave prifile mouth with round and slighlty everted rim set on a emispheric basin through a setbackì; high trumpet-shaped foot, ribbon handles set obliqually under the rim. Inner decoration: in the middle, two circles with a black point. Outer decoration: Side A) Herakles fighting the Amazons; at centre the Hero, wearing lion's skin, looking left, in the act of killing Hippolyta, the queen of Amazons, wearing a high crested helmet and holding a shield decorated with a dolphin, the left arm raised and left leg bent, the two figures depicted between two groups of Amazons; Side B) depicted with two charioteers driving fast quadrigas to the right a white column as finish. Additional details: between two radiating palmettes, details rendered in added white and purple.
