Testa di giovinetto con berretto frigio
I - II secolo d.C.; alt. cm 35; largh. cm 32; Testa maschile in marmo bianco insulare, caratterizzata da folta chioma di capelli ricci e da copricapo orientale che presenta elementi assimilabili sia al berretto frigio che ad un elmo, mancante tuttavia della sommità, e decorato sulla parte frontale da due girali in rilievo. Il volto, dall’ovale pieno, ha fronte parzialmente ricoperta da riccioli, occhi di forma allungata e bocca appena dischiusa. La forma della massa dei riccioli e la precisione del taglio degli occhi richiamano vagamente i tipi dell’età adrianea.
L’identificazione del personaggio risulta ardua. Se da un lato la forma del copricapo frigio richiama un’iconografia orientale, dall’altro, la particolarità della decorazione a spirale posta sulla sommità dello stesso, richiama le fattezze di un elmo, creando delle difficoltà interpretative del personaggio, ora immaginato come un mitico eroe.
