Landscape with satyrs
Oil on canvas, 50 x 68 cm
The Flemish artist belonged to a family of painters. His two brothers, Pieter and Norbert were both very talented painters.
Arrived in Italy, Jan Frans worked both in Turin and in Rome, where he took part of the Schildersbent, with the name of Orizzonte, cuase the facility in painting landscapes.
Fascinated by the beauty of Rome and of its countryside, he combined the analytical realism of the Roman painter with the tradition of Flemish landscape.
The work is accompanied by an expertise of Giancarlo Sestieri
