"Saint Rosalie". A carved coral figure - Trapani (Italy), late 17th Century; ; represented on a carriage with a lilly in the left hand, resting on a round foot decorated with "Retroincasto" Mediterranean coral dots, pods and commas, a fundamental component of Sicilian Baroque. The Trapani's coral worker from fifteenth to seventeenth century became famous throughout the Mediterranean for their splendid masterpieces as sacred and profane objects or nativity. 12 cm, 4 23⁄32 in high overall, base diameter 7.5 cm, 2 61⁄64 in, weight 198 gr. Item condition grading: **** good (minor defects).
