Beschreibung

A gilt copper,coral and enamels Capezzale, Trapani (Italy), 17th Century; ; octagonal frame with coral and enamels scrolling and mascheroni; the middle is decorated with "Retroincasto" coral dots, pods and commas and is centered by a coral sculptur of the Virgin surrounded with cupids. The Trapani's coral worker from fifteenth to seventeenth century became famous throughout the Mediterranean for their splendid masterpieces as sacred and profane objects or nativity. 52 x 37 x 5 cm, 20 15⁄32 x 14 9⁄16 x 1 31⁄32 in. Item condition grading: **** good (minor defects, missing part and repairs).
