Beschreibung

Gratiarum Thesaurus is an original artwork realized by Pieter van der Borcht (c. 1530 - 1608). Original burin on paper. On the lower margin, a long writing in Latin. Very good conditions. The artwork represents an ancient temple with some human figures in it. Surrounding the temple, an ancient city with a landscape. The impression is very fresh, refined, and ancient but in very good conditions. The artwork was realized by Pieter van der Borcht (Mocheler, 1530-1608), a Flemish Renaissance painter, draughtsman, and etcher. He is considered one of the most gifted botanical painters of the 16th century. The subjects of his work are historical and religious. Pieter van der Borcht the Elder contributed to spreading the genre of the 'monkey scene', also called 'singerie' (a term that in French means a 'comical grimace, behavior, or trick').
