Juanita Caracciolo Armani (Ravenna 1888 - Milano 1924)

She trained at the Milan Conservatory with Clelia Sangiorgi. He debuted in 1908 at the Teatro Politeama Genova as Nedda in "Pagliacci" and sings also there in "The Masks" by Mascagni. In 1911 she married the conductor Giacomo Armani. After appearing for twelve years in the Italian provincial theaters, he had a sensational success in 1920 when he sang in "Manon Lescaut" by Puccini at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. The same year he had another success in "Madama Butterfly" as Cio-Cio San, then as Margherita in "Mefistofele" by Boito and the premiere of the opera "The way the windows" by R. Zandonai. In 1919 he was a guest at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, in 1920 at the Teatro Comunale of Bologna (as Puccini's Manon Lescaut) and at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa (here in the title role of "La Wally" by Catalani). In 1920 he appeared at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and the Opera Theater of Rio de Janeiro as Butterfly, and as Octavian in '' Rosenkavalier '', then at the Teatro Real in Madrid. In 1922 he came to the Scala in Milan; He debuted as Eva in "Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg" by Wagner. Scala also sang Manon in '' Manon Lescaut '' by Puccini, and as Louise eponymous opera by Charpentier.
