South German turned ivory tower - first half of the 17th Century


turned elephant ivory column (Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797 or Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758), circular base with a thin shaft interspersed with multiple delicate leaf-form elements and with three upturned flowers on stems; the upper part centered by pierced ring surmounted by a narrow spire. Height 22 cm, base diameter 5.4 cm. Weight 25.1 gr. Item condition grading: **** good
(missing parts and surface wear commensurate with age & use). Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity (pre-1947).
