The decadrachms of Syracuse are among the most beautiful coins ever struck for circulation. They began in circa 405 BC, following the election of Dionysios as tyrann of Syracuse. After the victory of Syracuse against Athens, the polis repulsed a Carthaginian invasion at the end of V-early of IV century BC
