Description

GIACOMO PUCCINI
Edgar

Scene V, Tigrana, the Friar, Frank (from the original version):

32x28 cm
This is the first draft of the score written by Carlo Carignani and densely corrected by Giacomo
Puccini.
The indications in bars 6 and 7 are all Puccini's, as are the erasures and numbering at the bottom. The text is identical to the one of the first printed libretto, including the captions. The music
agrees with the autograph score (which is not complete on the corresponding pages).
The corrections in bars 5/6 are similar to those in the first printed score of 1890, but not the indicated cuts.
Since no printed score was available for the premiere, it is almost certain that these two pages come from the manuscript score, prepared for the singers by other collaborators.
This passage is already missing in the second edition of the score (February 1892).
