Roman-Provincial basalt Statue of Eros; 2nd - 3rd century AD; height cm 44. A young naked standing figure sculpted in the Roman Province of Syria, therefore characterized by an orientalizing taste: the left arm, fold on his chest, is encircled by an armilla; the body has prominent belly, tapering legs and on the rear attached wing remainder. Provided with museal stand.

Provenance. Property of an Italian Noble family since 1980s; sold with an export licence issued by the Republic of Italy.
