Description

Flagon with ovoid body, bell-mouthed neck, trilobate mouth, foot with disc-shaped rest, forked ribbon handle. ACQUAPENDENTE; 14th Century.Archaic majolica decorated with a Cycle of knives in green-blue and brown; neck of the foot with broad brown band. H. 15 cm. Cond.: excellent; minor restoration.This flagon is likely to have been made in medieval Acquapendente, a town not far from Viterbo which was of considerable importance thanks chiefly to its strategic position on the Via Francigena.
