Description

Small flattened ovoid jug, narrow neck with broader trilobate spout, disc-shaped base. VITERBO; first half of the 15th century.Archaic majolica painted with copper flake and manganese: on the curvature Bust of a Woman framed in oak leaves; registers decorated with ovuli on the neck. H. 19 cm; Ø base 8 cm.
Cond.: good; minor restoration, additions to the handle. This small jug, very close to examples of majolica from the Viterbo area, is a tribute to womanhood; already belonging to the early years of the 15th century, it is still in archaic majolica with green in relief, of the zaffera verde variety, albeit already a little more diluted.
