French wood and tortoiseshell box - 18th century

of rectangular form, entirely veneered in maple wood and inlaid with tortoiseshell (hawksbill sea turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, Cheloniidae); the corners and upper handle with gilded and embossed copper fittings depicting mermaids.
Height x width x depth: 10 x 16.5 x 11.5 cm. Total weight 580 g.
Item condition grading: **** good.
Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity.
