Description

Rare Louis XVI period white and blue porcelain clock with visible movement - Jacques-Thomas Bréant (1753-1807)

finely modelled porcelain case depicting Aphrodite on a chariot drawn by a pair of cooing pigeons, in the company of Eros and Anteros; circular white enamel dial, partly skeletonised, with Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic numeral date display signed "Bréant à Paris". Movement striking for hours and half hours. Oval base in blue and gilded porcelain with a shaped profile, embellished with festoons in relief and decorated on the edge with a Greek-style motif.
Height x width x depth: 46.5 x 38 x 16 cm.
Item condition grading: **** good (slight lacks and restored, pendulum missing).
