Una splendida e ampia collezione di monete antiche
Lotto unico di 30 monete in oro bronzo e argento, dalla civiltà etrusca al Rinascimento italiano
Una collezione composta da 29 monete etrusche, magno-greche, greche, barbariche e bizantine, coniate in un arco cronologico compreso tra il V secolo a.C. e il VI secolo d.C.
Inoltre è presente una rara medaglia napoletana prodotta da Sperandio da Mantova in onore di Marino Caracciolo, maresciallo di Ferdinando I d’Aragona, che testimonia l’origine della produzione medaglistica italiana rinascimentale. Tra le monete etrusche è particolarmente raro il dupondio fuso coniato a Volterra nel III secolo a.C. Tra le monete magno greche alcuni esemplari sono in ottimo stato di conservazione, come l’affascinante tetradracma coniata a Leontini, e le due tetradracme della zecca di Siracusa risalenti al periodo della tirannide dei Dinomenidi, caratterizzate al rovescio da un bellissimo ritratto della ninfa Aretusa.
Gli esemplari greci presenti nella collezione sono stati coniati prevalentemente a Leucas in Acarnania e a Corinto: si tratta di stateri con la rappresentazione di Pegaso in volo e della testa elmata di Atena, differenziati da vari simboli e lettere greche. Si presentano tutti in un buono stato di conservazione e alcuni sono di una certa rarità, tra cui lo statere di Corinto con al rovescio le lettere greche ΔΛ e un simbolo ovale, forse una corona.
Tra la monetazione dei regni romano-barbarici abbiamo in questa pregevole selezione un rarissimo tremisse visigoto ad imitazione di quelli prodotti da Eraclio, e una rara siliqua a nome di Anastasio I coniata dal regno dei Gepidi, mentre la monetazione bizantina è testimoniata da monete di Teodorico, Giustiniano I e Teodato.

Estremamente raro, circa 10 esemplari conosciuti; patina verde intonsa e piccolo forellino passante. Proveniente da asta Numismatica Ars Classica (Zurigo, 6 aprile 2006), lotto 1007.
