Description

A roman carnelian intaglio. Bust of Eros. The young winged youth is depicted frontally, with a very light torsion of the bust to the right and of the the head to the left. Graceful work, done with a certain artistry. Scarce employment of globular elements (late republican style) and a pleasant, deep carving for the volumes in the figure. Beautiful, intense gem colour. Light wear marks. End of the 1st century B.C. - beginning of the 1st century A.D.
