Eleven letters of which 8 are signed and three typewritten with autograph signature (joined to the respective envelopes), dated between 1940 and 1957. A very long and articulate letter is addressed to Angiola Maria Bonisconti, a well-known musical critic: : “… la dispersione di energie cui ci obbliga la vita attuale è in parte causa della mediocrità della quasi totalità della produzione artistica di tutto il mondo …”. During his life Dallapiccola received numerous awards: in 1953 he was appointed member of the Academy of Fine Arts of Bavaria, later he was named a member of the Berlin Academy of Art (1958) and of the Royal Academy of Music in London (1969 ).
