RICHARD STRAUSS
Monaco di Baviera 1864 – Garmisch-Partenkirchen 1949

Handwritten musical quote dated “1 March 1911”, signed by the German composer and conductor. In 1887 Strauss began to compose his first opera, "Guntram". From 1899 to 1913 he directed the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. The real international triumph and fame as an opera composer came to him with "Salome" (1905) and "Elektra" (1909). Elektra was the first work that saw the collaboration between Strauss and the writer and playwright Hugo von Hofmannsthal. A P. in-8.
