ROMAN PROVINCIAL HEAD OF A SOLDIER
1st century BC - 1st century AD
height cm 34 (with stand)
Characterized by large eyes and fleshy lips, short and elusive forehead, covered by curls that fall under the helmet; a veiled play of depth is made by the light and modest use of the drill in the rendering of the curls. The base is moulded and made of polished orthoceras fossil marble.
