Description

A roman carnelian intaglio. Male figure.
12 x 15 x 3 mm
The face, turned on the right side presents the profile, wearing a coat waving in the air, showing the soft nudity of the model. The face is characterized by a short beard and nose rolled up, similar to the satyr ones. The character is moving slighty angled, holding two instruments (the double flute ? ) in front of him. The reverse of the bezel presents a decreasing zone following the antique execution to cut two natural inclusions/cavities of the stone. Slight wear marks.
1st century AD.
