A JAVANESE BRONZE SPITBALL

10 x 10 cm; the base 7,5 x 10 cm
Majapahit style bronze tripod stand.

Provenance: Acquired before 1975

A similar high relief floral decoration can be seen on a 11th-13th century pellet bell in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York ( see M. Lenner – S. Kossak, The Lotus Transcendent. Indian and Southeast Asian Art from the Samuel Eilenberg Collection, New York 1991, p. 213, n. 172).
