An Irish William IV sterling silver cup - Dublin 1830-1831, Edward Power for Edward Twycross

two-handled on spreading circular foot, the full body with embossed flowers and grape vines, engraved on one side with a crest and on the opposite side with a a vacant cartouche. Fully hallmarked Dublin 1830-1831, silversmith Edward Power for Edward Twycross. Edward Twycross (1803–1852) was a Dublin silversmith, solicitor, and author who in 1847 published a book, "The Mansions of England and Wales," that is used as a historical reference for the stately homes of England and in tracing genealogies of members of the British aristocracy.Earlier in his life, Edward worked as a silversmith in Dublin, his silver hallmark being " TWY+ ". Edward crafted fine Irish Sterling silver in his father's retail shop in Dublin: John Twycross and Son, Goldsmiths. John Twycross was a well known Master of the Dublin Goldsmiths Company and became Silversmith to Her Majesty and The Lord Lieutenant. Edward also worked with silversmith Edward Power and they sometimes and sometimes they used their marks together. Width with handles 21.5 cm, height 18.5 cm. Total weight 581 gr. Item condition grading: **** good.
