Marcantonio Raimondi (1480-1534)

The Parnassus of the Gods, 1585; Burin engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi (1480-1534) taken from Raphael's frescoes in the Vatican; mm.360x374 - II / III state, as can be seen from the various wordings on the plate: on the right we note“ Ant. Sal . Exc. which refers to the edition of Salamanca (from 1530, then from 1553 to 1577 in association with Lefrèry) and the wording "Nicolaus Van Aelst for. Roma" which identifies the evidence after the death of Lefrèry himself when the publisher became Van Aelst from 1580 until 1613), the engraving can be dated to around 1585 (state I is from 1515 ca.)
