Description

Wilhelm Lorenz

Tiger, XX Century
Disegno a matita su carta color avorio, 46 x 64.7 cm
Tiger is a beautiful original drawing in pencil on ivory-colored, wire rod and watermarked Rives Canson paper, realized in the XX century by the German artist Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz. Signed in pencil on the lower right margin.
A tiger is portrayed in her royal and elegant posture, sketched with a fat pencil and with incredible realism, paying attention to the texture of her striped fur.

Wilhelm (Willi) Lorenz (Germany, 1901–1981)
Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos, and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artworks resemble the works by Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Willi Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career.
This modern artwork is in very good conditions, except for a little rip on the higher margin at the center, a light fold on the higher right corner, and some minor pencil stains and a usual yellowing of the paper on the edges.
