Wilhelm Lorenz

Profile of a Lion,XX Century
Disegno a matita su carta color avorio, 41.9 x 55.8 cm
Profile of a Lion is a beautiful original drawing in pencil on white cardboard, realized in the XX century by the German artist Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz.
This wonderful study of the profile of a lion in a royal and elegant posture is sketched with a fat pencil, with incredible realism and attention to the texture of the animal's fur.

Wilhelm (Willi) Lorenz (Germany, 1901–1981)
Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos, and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artworks resemble the works by Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Willi Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career.
This modern artwork is in very good conditions, except for the light medial fold of the sheet, light abrasions of the paper on the margins, minor pencil stains and a usual yellowing of the paper on the edges.
