Description

A coral and copper treasure chest, Trapani 17th-18th Century; ; a rectangular basement, resting on four spherical foot; the body, adorned to the corners by winged putti, is decorated with "Retroincasto" Mediterranean coral dots, pods and commas, while the cover is engraved with naturalistic motifs, a fundamental component of Sicilian Baroque. The Trapani's coral worker from fifteenth to seventeenth century became famous throughout the Mediterranean for their splendid masterpieces as sacred and profane objects or nativity. Dimensions 118 x 52 x 48 mm. Weight 244 gr. Item condition grading ****good, minor substitutions.
