(1946-)

A rural scene

Acrylics on canvas, 63 x 71 cm

Signed in the center of the lower side: “I.K.T. Tagen/Penestanan/ Klod”.

Provenance: ambassador Gerardo Carante.

A pupil of Arie Smit, I Ketut Tagen is one of the most appreciated artists of the sparkling scene of Penestanan, Bali, able to combine bright colors with scenes that describe the traditional daily life of that village. Its specific characteristic is the absence of anatomical details on the faces. He has exhibited in many museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco (1964), the National Museum of Singapore (1970), the Singapore Art Museum (1994) and the Museum Nasional in Jakarta (1995).
