Vertical hanging scroll painted in ink on silk, 125 x 44 cm

Signed in the lower left corner 探山正 筆 (Tanzan shōhitsu, “Authentic painting of Tanzan”); in the upper section a poem; silk frame.

Provenance: Italian private collection.

Tsuruzawa Tanzan (鶴沢探山) was a pupil of Tan'yu, one of the leading exponents of the Kanō school in the 17th century. In addition to painting he also devoted himself to the production of artistic ceramics.
