Study for the figures of Michelangelo, Garibaldi, Umberto Biancamano and Queen Cristina of France in Sala della Maggioranza in Palazzo delle Finanze, Rome, 1878

Signed on the back: Mariani

Sketch for the frescoes of the vault of the Sala della Maggioranza in the Palazzo delle Finanze in Rome. Work commemorating the rediscovered national unity, for which the artist won the competition announced by the new state. The choice of characters was not easy due to the political tensions of those years. In the work presented are in fact depicted Michelangelo, Garibaldi, the Count Biancamano and Queen Cristina of France.
