The Ten Shilling banknote is the smallest banknote ever issued by the Bank of England. On the front it shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and on the back the seal of the Bank of England.
The first ten shillings banknotes from the Bank of England they are printed in red on both sides, with the wording “I promise to pay the sum of ten shillings to the bearer on request". This statement remains on the Bank of England notes even today.
Issued by the Bank of England for the first time in 1928 after undergoing several changes, it continued to be printed until 1969.
