Description

Enée portant Anchise is an original artwork realized by Bernardo Daddi in the second half of the XVI century. Original burin on paper d'après Raphaël. "Raphael Urbinus inventor" and an original verse from the Eneide are written on the lower margin. Good conditions, except for some light spots on the margins. Very rare and ancient burin representing Anchise and Aeneas in a famous scene from the Eneide. The artwork is taken from an original etching realized by Raffaello Sanzio in 1400. The figures are characterized by high contrasts. The artwork was realized by Bernardo Daddi (1512 - 1570). He was an Italian engraver of the XVI century, well-known as "Maître au Dé", because he signed his works with "dé". Bernardo Daddi reproduced especially the work of Raffaello Sanzio, Giulio Romano, and Baldassarre Peruzzi.
