Giovanni Battista Galestruzzi (1615-1669)


Lycurgus and Numa Pompilius giving the Laws to the Romans is a hand-watercolored etching realized by the Italian artist Giovanni Battista Galestruzzi (Florence, 1618 - 1677), after Polidoro da Caravaggio (Bergamo, 1492 - Messina, 1543).

The etching is from the print series Subjects from Roman History. The black and white copy of the same print is preserved at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco.

In good conditions, including a white cardboard passepartout.

The gouache watercolor is of the end of the XX century.
