Description

Ptolemaic planisphere by Sebastian MUNSTER (1488-1552). Rare woodcut taken from the work "Cosmographia Universalis" printed in Basel around 1570. It was the first description of the world in German, in the planisphere the known world is highlighted with allegorical cherubs blowing - symbolizing the 12 winds. Beautiful and lively watercolor coloring, laid paper with the usual German text on the reverse

very good condition, with excellent restoration in the central editorial fold
