In Bucharest, Viorica Cortez was a student of Arta Florescu, the Romanian soprano and teacher after the war (in addition to Cortez, some of his apprentices were important Marina Krilovici, Eugenia Moldoveanu, Slătinaru-Maria Nistor, Leontina Văduva and even Angela Gheorghiu).
