Oil on canvas, 54 x 71 cm
This artwork is a landscape attributed to Francis Wheatley, an English artist who studied at William Shipley's drawing school and at the Royal Accademy. After several trips to Netherlands and France, he spent a long time in Ireland, in Dublin, where he was very successful.
In his production there are portraits but also landscapes, both in oil and watercolor, representing rustic everyday life scenes. When he was come back to London, he focused on his most famous production: sentimental scenes inspired by Jean-Baptiste Greuze's painting.
From 1784, in hometown, he became an assiduous exhibitor at the Royal Accademy and then, in 1791, he was elected academic of the Royal Accademy.
