Edition created for the Roy Lichtenstein retrospective “Beyond Pop Art” at the Pompidou-Metz Center, taken from the original 1963 work.
"Hopeless" is a typical example of Lichtenstein's comic strip work with the tearful girl who fills most of the space. The artist makes changes to the original comic strip by Tony Abruzzo, "Run For Love!" - Secret Hearts, No. 83 of November 1962 published by DC Comics, using vibrant colors and bold wavy lines that intensify the emotion of the scene. The romantic and romantic comics women of Lichtenstein who represent a typical element of his production, look, fragile and uniform, as if they all came out of the same trick.
