Inkwell

Very complex inkwell formed by a high basin-shaped container on board with a raised side having a high opening to probably contain a clock, has a tray for objects, above a base that contains two glasses on the sides, one drilled for the sand, the other for the ink with the two lids and in the middle a tall cylinder shaped pen holder.
Porcelain painted in polychromy with festoons and corollas of flowers in relief and large gold decorations on a green background; all the edges are shaped; in the back a splendid decoration in gold with flourishes in relief is set on bright green.
H. cm.26; length mx. cm. 42; > cm.6> Cond: very good.

France, Fontainebleau, manufacture by Jacob Petit, (Jacob Mardouché), 19th century, first decade.
Extraordinary inkpot of great refinement, comes from Napoleonic heritage. The attribution to Jacob Petit is certain, since, even if not signed, the inkpot, like the watches, is part of the rococo production of Jacob, an exuberant artist who, from his many travels, has drawn inspiration to create a personal, unmistakable style.
In this same auction, compare the lot ... with the statuette of the Magot, signed with the initials "J P", with which many stylistic affinities can be seen.
