An English large sterling silver cigar box - London 1920s, Asprey & Co. Ltd
An exceptionally fine quality piece; the four corner doors are all box wood lined with a box wood base, every single other part is solid sterling silver, the doors are all engine turned, if you move the finial clockwise half a turn all four doors open at the same time, it looks amazing every single time, you close them by hand. The box is hallmarked on almost every single piece with town marks (Leopard head for London) and standard marks (Lion passant), even the final top. Double signed Asprey London Ltd on one side, and numbered PAT No. 40928 (for 1886 circa) and 264727 (for 1895 circa).The box can house cigars or cigarettes up to 8.4 cm tall. Base 15.5 cm, height 22.5 cm. Total weight 1787 gr. Item condition grading: **** good with just a couple of minor dings on one door.
