Handwritten signature of the famous model, published by Assouline in 2008. Veruschka, the stage name of Vera von Lehndorff-Steinort, studied in Hamburg and Florence. In 1959 she was discovered by the photographer Ugo Mulas who launched her career as a model. In Paris and New York City (where she moved to 1961) she did not have the desired success, and returned to Munich, where she began to spread the rumor of being Russian, and changed her name to Veruschka, to create an aura of mystery. The operation succeeded, and Veruschka established herself as one of the first and most important top models of those years.
