A GILT BRONZE LARGE SCULPTURE OF AKASAGARBHA

Tibet, early 20th century

The deity sitting on a double lotus flower base with legs in dhyanasana position, the right arm bent at the elbow with the hand supporting the cintamani, in the right hand a scepter with a two-headed vajra end, a showy headdress on the head with floral relief decoration.

Provenance: Italian private collection.

Bodhisattva Akasagarbha has in the doctrine the role of destroying obstacles and helping devotees to correct their mistakes in pursuing salvation.
His representations are quite rare.
