The Ando Manufacture was founded in Nagoya by Ando Jubei (1876-1952) at the end of the 19th century. His artifacts with cloisonné decoration, appreciated for the use of very original execution techniques, won numerous prizes at the Universal Exhibitions held in various cities around the world between the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century. From about 1900 it constantly supplied the imperial family with objects intended for diplomatic gifts.
