Byzantine gold earring
8th - 9th century AD ; height mm 42 (2’’); gr 3,95; Crescent in form with an openwork design composed of two confronted peacocks, three bosses on the beaded edge. Tapering at one end to a hook-and-loop closure.
PROVENANCE:
Property of a London gentleman, acquired in the late 1980s and 1990s.
