Rhodian aryballos in the shape of a helmeted head
Early 6th century BC
height cm 7 (3’’)
With large eyes and small moustache; the crest of the helmet is a ridge with a vertical projection at the front, below which the circular front-piece above the forehead is decorated with an incised palmette.
PROVENANCE
Property of a gentleman; acquired on the European art market between 1960s and 1980s.
