A PAIR OF 'CANTON' STYLE DECORATED PORCELAIN BALUSTER VASES
CHina, Qing dynasty, second half of the 19th century

62 cm high each

Cylindrical body slightly curved towards the shoulder where two pairs of sinuous high-relief dragons are placed, tubular neck with flared mouth and two handles in the shape of two crouching quadrupeds facing each other, the rich polychrome and gold decoration consisting of cartouches with female figures and 'flowers and birds' compositions reserved on a dense 'flowers and butterflies' ground.

Provenance: Italian private collection.
