Description

An extraordinary roman emerald intaglio. Quadriga.
6 x 7 x 2 mm
The intaglio is executed with high technicity on a very little dimension bezel, enhancing the virtuosity of the execution. The quadriga is represented in 3/4, with the auriga in second plan waving the stick. Despite of the reduced dimensions, we can noticed the horses muzzles sill in 3/4, turned in the center following an expressive dynamic typical of hellenistic art. Use of globular elements for the animals legs. Ground line. Slight wear marks. Attractive light color, purity and luminosity of the stone.
