TWO BRONZE FIGURES OF THE BUDDHA AND THE BODHISATTVA GUANYIN
China, Ming dynasty, 1535



The two deities sitting on a lotus-shaped base, both with crossed legs in dhyanasana position, the Buddha
dressed in a wide tunic that leaves the chest uncovered with the hands at the chest and on the head the usnisa protuberance, the richly jeweled bodhisattva, the head with a showy diadem, the left hand resting on the feet, the right one at chest level, on the back of both the sculptures inscriptions with the date 1535.
