Description

Wilhelm Lorenz

Felines, XX Century
Drawing in pencil on ivory-colored paper, 29.5 x 40.8 cm
Felines is a beautiful original pencil drawing on ivory-colored paper, realized in the XX century by the German artist Wilhelm Lorenz, also called Willi Lorenz.
A lion and a lioness are portrayed from behind with their typical plush steps, together with an amazing profile of a lioness. The drawing is sketched with a fat pencil and with much freshness of line, paying attention to the different textures and attitudes of the animals.

Wilhelm (Willi) Lorenz (Germany, 1901–1981)
Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos, and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artworks resemble the works by Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Willi Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career.
This modern artwork is in excellent conditions, except for some minor pencil stains on the edges.
