Beauty came from a wound, early 60’s
Mixed media (enamel, acrylic and plaster with “velatino”) on canvas, 100 x 100 cm
Titled upper and lower: Da una ferita scaturì / la bellezza
Signed and dedicated on the back: Franco Angeli, “A Dario”
Referring to "E da una ferita scaturì la bellezza" (1957), which is registered to its first production, the work is inspired by the memory of the trauma experienced the night of the bombing of San Lorenzo, which took place on July 19, 1943. In this regard, Angeli expressed himself: "Matter for me is a fragment of this enormous laceration that has transpired Europe; my first paintings were like that, like a wound from which I take some pieces of bandage [...] where the blood has clotted but it is no longer a red stain. Everything had to look torn, broken”.
